ESPN Embraces Pro White Hiring Practices
Woke 1.0 is in the rear view mirror at ESPN.
On The Le Betard Show, Dan Le Betard made the claim that ESPN is now “A whole lot of white people hiring a whole lot of white people and giving all of the money to a whole lot of white people”. Let’s dive in.
Long time executive vice president over at espn David Roberts who adhered to the philosophy that diverse voices are good for business and was a major advocate for the black community stepped down at the end of August and was replaced by undercover maga patriot Mike Foss.
Since then, layoffs at ESPN have hit names such as Charles Davis, racebaiter Ryan Clark, and Cam Newton while finding room in the budget to give deals or extend deals to Jason Kelce, Peter Schrager, Josh Pate, Rich Eisen, and The Manning brothers including a bombshell $108 million six year deal for Joe Buck.
Since the peak of the BLM defined era or the early twenties, espn has always found time in its segments to discuss social and political issues. With the tides turned after the 2024 election, it seems this might not be such a profitable formula. ESPN has realized the people who actually watch sports content that isn’t the game itself aren’t immersed in that bullcrap.
ESPN has rebutted these claims saying that Le Betards comments are “simply an inaccurate and irresponsible characterization” and pointing out there has been no memo at espn to stop hiring diverse talents, but it doesn’t take a genius to see what’s going on here.
