Terminator Vs 3rd Worldism; Ukraine's plan for an Army of Robots

The future is already here for the defense industry

Former Minister of Defense and architect of Ukraine's Army of Drones, Mykhailo Fedorov, released a teaser video showcasing Ukraine's initiative to deploy 50k Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) in the near future. In Ukraine, Drones and UGVs have revolutionized modern warfare, saving the lives of soldiers while deploying advanced technologies to repel the invasion of Russia. When videos of drones hunting and tracking down enemies of Ukraine started breaking on the timeline several years back, honestly, the footage was haunting. It almost seems like there's no escape from these drones except with a calm, accurate bullet. Bravo to the Ukrainians for demonstrating to the world new advanced warfare tactics. Some have said these new technologies make warfare "fake and gay" because you're supposed to face the enemy head-on instead of behind a screen- a stupid contention.

These advanced technologies protect soldiers on the ground. Ukraine already has 15k UGVs deployed, and the Army of Robots plan is to contract out another 35k by the end of the year. In early 2026, UGVs have carried out tens of thousands of missions across Ukraine, including logistics and resupply to frontline positions, sometimes almost all deliveries in hot sectors. They have also conducted medical evacuations of wounded civilians and soldiers, armed combat, and held or cleared positions in combination with aerial drones. Some of these robots showcased in the video are large humanoids, spider-like, or straight-up warthogs from Halo. Very exciting to see from Ukraine!
