Alright we’re officially in another mass hysteria bc Brandon Flowers dropped a song called An American Dream and I’m seeing half of Reddit and right wing Twitter act like it’s the next American Pie, even though the song is genuinely ahh. It’s almost like the comparison was neurolinguistically programmed into your heads because the song names are extremely similar. I mean fr, beyond that and having a vaguely anthemic hook, they’re nothing alike. There’s a video going around of him performing it and I legit don’t get what’s so crazy about it. Simple ah melody, but because he’s singing passionately we apparently have to pretend it’s one of the best songs released in years. I swear some of these people are teenage girls in their minds. Like really, Brandon Flowers? Idk man, maybe I just don’t get it but the Killers have always seemed like a band tailored for the female gaze to me. How is a grown ass man gonna say “Brandon Flowers” is his favorite. From how people are receiving his recent music, it seems like his marketing strategy of cosplaying as Springsteen and Costello has worked to a T.
