The new young goattress of Country has made her statement, setting the new record for most weeks at #1, while rap music seems to be permanently in the rearview.

Even Mariah Carey who's not a rap artist is PISSED. Ella Langley just embarrassed her and so many others by setting the new record this morning for most consecutive weeks at number one with her hit Choosin' Texas, a feat that has many wondering what it portends for the future of popular music. As many know, when Trump cut off USAID two Julys ago, rap music seemed to permanently fall off the charts for good. I've heard all the excuses. "people just listen to underground music now" "artists are just more spread out, there's more great rappers than ever before" "people are still stuck on the aging rappers of yesteryear and won't be able to move on to a new set of stars until they're gone".

The truth is that pretty much everything there is to be said in the context of rap has been said, and there's an accumulating sense of "democrat mustiness" clouding the genre like a fart.
