OPINION: The plague in Russia is fake
Honestly can't believe some people believe this man
When insane news like the Pneumonic Plague is all anyone is talking about, you kinda have to wonder what else is going on in the world. First, the "plague" broke containment because of some clumsy foid and now people are saying billions are going to die. Like right out the gate. It's pretty insane ngl. Second, it does not have the capacity to travel like COVID did, not because of transmission rate but because Wuhan is a major global transportation hub. The virus spread rapidly because of the incubation period. People were already landing in foreign countries by the hundreds of thousands before anyone even knew what the hell coronavirus was. Irkutsk, where the "plague outbreak" is reported, is about 2,300 miles from Moscow, Russia's main hub for global transportation. Russia and its neighbors might have a problem with the plague, if that is what it is, but a global pandemic is unlikely in my opinion.
So, if this is all just hysteria then what's going on? Well, the internet has had a problem for years at this point highlighting fake and dubious news for engagement. This has been social media ever since October 7th. It's also a reaction still from COVID. People are traumatized from that harsh flu. "The next one will surely kill us all" essentially. There are conflicting reports all around. Russia denies the plague outbreak, some hospitals have refuted the quarantine requirements reported online. Some online users have suggested that Putin is going to weaponize this hysteria and further escalate the war in Ukraine by blaming the outbreak on the west, which doesn't really track for me. I suggest that if the plague is real, and I doubt that it is, and if Putin really does want to get out of the war, which I also doubt, then he could use this "plague" in his country as a way to to draw down the conflict without it looking like he surrendered and failed in his 2 week, now 4 year special military operation. This is largely not going to happen, but hey, it's a hopeful thought.
The news of the plague hit at such an interesting time. Is this the October surprise or is the spider web of the internet obscuring the sky? News of a Watergate style spying operation hit airwaves this morning. Jack Smith(conveniently photographed yesterday at some concert that leftists were drooling over), Special Prosecutor appointed by Joe Biden, spied on Susie Wiles, Melania and Barron Trump. The FBI used a pen register and a trap and trace process which collects metadata, phone numbers dialed or received, times and call durations, but not the content of the conversations. They spied on Wiles before and throughout the campaign, logging calls from redacted lawyers, journalists, and campaign staffers. Melania and Barron Trump were traced so the FBI could know when the opportune moment would be to raid Mar-A-Lago. This is all much more important news breaking today than a "plague outbreak" like 5,000 miles away from home.
